Frequently Asked Questions
What Size Bike
What Size Bike Do I Need?
When it comes to figuring out what bike size you should get, we could offer some general suggestions here, but to really get it right, you should talk to an expert in person. So we suggest that you come visit our bike shop where we can ask you more specific questions. Getting the right size bike for you really depends on a few things that are unique to you and your lifestyle. Our suggestions in person are usually spot-on.
How To Measure Bike Size?
People often come in and tell us that they “need a 26 inch” or they “need a 27 inch” or that they “need a 24 inch”…that is usually referring to wheel size.
When you come to a bicycle shop that sells specific types of bikes, it’s usually determined by frame size first, then wheel size.
Bicycle frame sizes can vary by brand and type of bike. Also, road bikes, mountain bikes and hybrids often have various units of measurement (inches vs centimeters, etc). So, if you come to our store, we kind of eye you up and offer you some suggestions and let you try a few to let you see how comfortable you feel on the bicycle. Our customers usually listen to our suggestions because it is the safest way to buy a bicycle (if unfortunately there would ever be an accident). Please see our test riding policy.
What Is Your Test Riding Policy?
Our test riding policy requires that we hold your drivers license. When test riding a bicycle, it is required that you wear a helmet. If you do not have one, we will supply you with one. Should you not comply, AAAA Bike Shop is released from any liability or responsibility should an accident and/or injury occur. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Kids Bike Sizes?
Parents often ask, “What size bike for a 6 year old?” Or “what size bikes do you have for my 3 year old?”
We do a variety of children’s bikes, from 12-inch bikes all the way up to bikes suitable for children and young adults.
A 12-inch bike is typically for a child 2 and a half years old. A 16-inch bike is typically for a child starting at 3 and a half. A 20-inch bike is for those kids starting around 6 and a half.
“Are there bikes for toddlers?” “What about balance bikes?” Yes, we have trikes for toddlers, balance bikes, training wheels for kids bikes and bikes for children of all ages, as well as baby bike seats and bike trailers for kids for family bike rides.
